Danganronpa Fan Project

What Is Danganronpa?

Danganronpa is an adventure game series developed by Spike Chunsoft. It's about a colourful cast of 16 talented students waking up, trapped, in an isolated location. Here they are told that if they wish to escape, they must murder someone and get away with it.

The games are structured in chapters. Each chapter a murder occurs and the rest of the cast must gather clues and investigate. Afterwards they must debate over who they think did it and vote. If they vote correctly, the culprit will be punished by execution. If they vote incorrectly, everyone else will be punished instead and the killer goes free.

The overall story develops each chapter and the player is free to get know the cast and interact with the environment in between cases. Trying to figure out who the mastermind is and what their motives are.

Essentially it's a wacky murder mystery series. One that I've loved throughout my teens. Looking back on the series, I find myself still fond of the general structure and premise.

This fan project essentially takes the same basic premise but developing my own cast, setting and overarching plot/subplots. The project is something I'm doing for amusement and exercise.

Each character has the title of 'Ultimate' in regards to their skills/talent. eg, Ultimate Guitarist, Ultimate Dog Trainer, etc.

Ultimate Sound Designer

Ultimate Secretary

For the first design, I scribbled around in MSPaint. One of my concepts wore a pair of earphones and had a punk look to her.

I decided on having her be the Ultimate Sound Designer.

For her full outfit, I decided to incorporate a school uniform with punk influences. Leather gloves, studs and spikes. The uniform takes influence from japanese school uniforms, as Danganronpa is a japanese game.

For the ultimate secretary, I thought of an overworked and impatient woman. After sketching a few ideas, I ultimately stuck with having a hooped ponytail. As it gave her a silhouette. Her green hair and purple colour palette was chosen to both match and contrast the Sound Designer

Ultimate Streamer

Like the sound designer, the streamer concepts started on MSPaint. Streaming is a relatively modern, and tech based, thing. Hence the electric colours in her palette.
